What are precious metals?
Precious metal products refer to objects made of gold, silver, platinum or palladium. Common products made of precious metals are jewellery, silverware and cutlery.
The entity selling precious metals is bound by certain obligations, laws and responsibilities in Finland. This includes the precious metal regulations followed by the Finnish Safety and Chemicals Agency (Tukes), such as mandatory markings, which includes the concentration stamp and the manufacturer's stamp, which is registered with Tukes. Stamping is also affected by the weight of the product; stamping of light precious metal products is not mandatory. Gold, palladium and platinum products weighing <1 g and silver products weighing <10 g do not need to be stamped.
The amount of precious metal is stated in parts per million. For example, if the concentration stamp has the number 925, it means that the product contains 92.5% silver. The bottom shape of the concentration stamp tells you which precious metal it is. The base format is the frame used around the name stamp or only letters.

You can recognize my products by the manufacturer's stamp MKA. In addition, I always stamp the precious metal products according to the concentration.
Sterling silver is stamped 925. My copper products are stamped CU.

Jewellery materials
Jewellery is often not thought of as ecological, although high-quality silver and gold jewellery is ecological in many ways. Jewellery lasts a long time, and can pass from one generation to another as an heirloom. Like all metals, silver and gold are also fully recyclable materials. Making jewellery from recycled raw materials consumes natural resources many times less than using new raw materials.
The silver I use is recycled. In the manufacturing process, I recover all "waste", even the precious metal dust that is generated. It will be sent to be cleaned and thus put back into use.
As a small one-woman business, I have a limited number of partners. I prefer domestic and European partners as suppliers, in which case legislation is uniform and supervision is also easier.
Jewellery locks, links, earring studs and other parts that I do not manufacture myself come from responsible domestic and European suppliers.
I buy the gemstones used in the jewellery from small family owned businesses without intermediaries.
Packaging
Nature and taking care of it is important to me. I have also taken ecology into account when choosing my packaging materials.
My packaging materials are ECO marked and they meet strict requirements regarding toxic chemicals and raw materials harmful to the environment or ecosystem.
The packaging materials are also made from material from FSC®-certified, well-managed forests and other controlled sources. These packaging materials support responsible forest management, where only as many trees are cut as the forest can regenerate. This also ensures that animals and plants are protected, and foresters receive proper training, decent working conditions and fair wages.
